9 November update

Dear all,

The most heartfelt gratitude to each of you for the tremendous outpouring of calls, messages, love and light.  I sit by her bedside now with David Stanwood's exquisite creation floating in the air.  Mother remains stable but critical.  We are awaiting MRI results now, and I shall update accordingly. I believe you can select to receive updates below.

In the meantime, here is an article from the MV Times, in case you have not seen it.

We would welcome your images, notes, poetry, readings...anything at all.

With love,
Katherine

  8. Thank you for the updates. I've seen your mom out and about so much and connected with her in passing... she has such a grace and kindness to her. I did a double take when I saw her face in the paper. Your family is in my prayers!

  9. Dear Katharine, Thank you so much for sending the article and for keeping us informed about Virginia's progress. The nature of the posts and the beauty of the photos and poetry are a beautiful testament to the grace and love that are your relationship with your mother and the way you both live your lives. I was shocked in hearing of the accident and of course am hoping for Virginia's most easeful recovery. Please let me know if I can be helpful here on the Island. I couldn't tell from your posts so far whether Virginia has recovered consciousness. Please give her my love. Thank you for continuing to let us all know how she is doing. Thank you for letting us know how you are doing as well. It is very reassuring to know that you have a place to stay when you are not at your mother's side. And, of course, it is so comforting to know that you and your mother have such a wonderful bond and that you are there for her. Sending much love. Martha Abbot

  11. Aunt Virginia has been a very special part of my life, especially during my childhood. She always made me feel special and loved no matter the circumstances. As an adult, I have come to admire her gentle and kind spirit and her wisdom. I have often saved voice mails she left on my phone and played them again over and over. I love her sweet voice and cannot wait to hear it again. I have a beautiful picture of her when she visited and helped out at a pet adoption, I will send it to you Kathy.

  13. Katherine, I too knew your mom as a wonderful, beautiful dancer in our Ballroom Dance MV ensemble. I am shocked and hurt and saddened with the news. I lost my wife this past January and was reminded that "she is just starting her eternal life." Be assured, your mom is dancing with the Lord.
    Love and strength to you,
    Tom Newton
