A poem...
For Katherine and her Mother...
You’ve been here before, the two of you
Here in this lonely place where life is
overturned, unfathomably so; where
we can ask – demand perhaps - some explanation ,
But none can come and all, it seems,
that you can do is weep or laugh
at these absurdities, or punch
the air in anger.
Yet you - her child - and she
are here: you sit beside her
in her silence, together as you’ve
always been when needed.
She will know you’re there.
And it’s important that you know,
whatever Destiny or Fate
or Karma, call it what you may;
your precious gifts of mutual
love prevail
and ever will.
